Gospel artist Collen Maluleke is hoping his latest album will breathe inspiration to many facing different challenges.

Maluleke’s third album – Face2Face, recorded live at the Lyric Theatre in Johannesburg, will be released on various digital platforms and selected music stores in South Africa this coming Friday, March 6, 2020.  With South Africa plagued by a number of social ills such as gender-based violence, depression, unemployment, and crime, Maluleke feels Face2Face can help at easing the pain and inspiring people to strive for better despite these challenges.

“The album is aimed at stirring people’s faith. We don’t talk about problems. We talk about rising above the problems. Face2Face will help people to grow their faith to face challenges in their everyday lives. People that are depressed will find reprieve. You cannot sing a song like Face2Face and still be hopeless. It kicks depression out of your system because you are standing in the presence of God,” said Maluleke.

“We live in a time that is tough. There are so many diseases in the world. Cancer and HIV are destroying homes. Poverty and unemployment are messing up young people. One of the songs on the album, You Are A Wonder is aimed at addressing such. The lyrics go ‘your name creates, your name is medicine and, in your name, we are healed’.”

The 32-year-old composer, producer and song writer from Snake Park in Soweto has featured Khaya Mthethwa and Mmatema Moremi on the album, which he describes as a step up in his musical offering.

“This is by far a step up for me in terms production, the songs, the writing, and the entire content is in a league of its own. People can expect original songs, a fresh new sound and great features with Khaya and Mmatema. It’s not face to face with me but face to face with God,” said the member of gospel group Spirit of Praise.

Since making his foray into the gospel music industry, Maluleke has seen growth in his craft. His songs, from previous albums – Open Heavens and Grateful, are constant features on TV, radio and are sang in various churches. His song You Are Glorious has reached over 1.3 million views of YouTube. The associate pastor and entrepreneur wants Face2Face to reach greater heights.

“Not only do I want to make impact in terms of sales but I also want to contribute towards helping the less fortunate with proceeds from the album. With my previous albums, from sales and performances, I have been able to help disadvantaged students with groceries and other necessities. It’s not a lot. It’s about inspiring them. The little that I make from music, I take a portion to give back by helping the less fortunate,” said Maluleke.

So far this year, Maluleke has released two singles – Amazulu featuring Khaya Mthethwa and Face2Face.
